The Ventura County Fusion takes on the Southwest division-leading San Francisco Glens FC Friday night at 7 pm at Ventura College Stadium. Fusion occupies fourth place in the division, two points behind the Glens, but with a game in hand.

The Glens are coming off a dominant 4-1 thumping of San Francisco derby rival SF City FC. Long-range goals from Dominic Valdivia and Adrian Medina as well a brace from Glens Academy product Diego Grande sealed the win in that one. Grande, who is the team’s leading goal scorer, has committed to play college soccer at NCAA Division 3 side Dominican University.

The win over SF City FC was the Glen's second straight win following on a 1-0 victory over the then division-leading Project 510. This is the first time the Glens have been in first place in the division since joining USL League 2 (formerly PDL) four years ago.

“At the moment, everyone’s taking points from everyone,” said Fusion head coach Mike Elias. “It’s a really tightly contested league this year. They (the Glens) find themselves on top of the league at the moment, but if we win, we go to top. We’ve looked at some footage of them in the games they have played. They look to be very organized, very structured and they have some good players. I think it’s going to be another tight game.”

Ventura County Fusion is undefeated in four games this season and is coming off a scoreless draw with the So Cal Seahorses. The team has scored five goals in those four games. Logan Farrington, a 6’2” striker who plays his college soccer at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, is the team’s leading goal scorer with two.
