United Soccer Leagues released the 2012 divisional alignment and schedule for the PDL today, with the 584-game regular season getting underway on April 22 as LA Misioneros FC faces the Fresno Fuego. The PDL will feature 73 teams in four geographic conferences and nine divisions. The Eastern Conference features three divisions while the Southern, Central and Western Conferences feature two divisions each. PDL clubs will play 16-game schedules in 2012, eight home and eight away.

Juan Pablo Angel has scored more than 40 goals in the top flight of four different countries — Colombia, Argentina, England and the United States. Milton Blanco led the Premier Development League in points last summer for the Fresno Fuego. So there was both established and up-and-coming attacking talent on display Friday morning at Oxnard College.

After a week of training at The Home Depot Center, it’s a time for a change of scenery. The Red-and-White head north on Sunday, setting up camp in Oxnard, California for the next phase of preseason. According to coach Fraser, the selection of Oxnard came down mostly to facilities. “The facilities there are excellent,” he said. “The hotel is great, the field is usually in very good condition.
