Mexico U-17 National Team Return To California To Face Fusion On March 4

El Tri Youth Stars to Return to Ventura College Sportsplex for an Exciting Matchup

VENTURA, Calif. – One of the most popular and successful youth national teams in the world is headed to Ventura.  Mexico’s U-17 national team will meet Ventura County Fusion in an exhibition match on Saturday, March 4th at 7pm at the Ventura College Sportsplex. The teams previously played in August 2015 infront of a sell out crowd resulting in an excitng 2-2 draw. The Mexico U-17s are reigning champions of CONCACAF and are two time FIFA U-17 World Cup champions, the team has enjoyed recent success as it was crowned in the 2005 and 2011 editions of the tournament.

 “Fusion is excited to once again welcome the Mexican national team to train and play here in Ventura,” Fusion GM Ranbir Shergill said, “We have a history of bringing some of the best and brightest young players to the region, and can’t wait for Mexico’s U-17 team to play Fusion once again in March.”

The clubs most represented on the Mexican U-17 national team are Chivas Guadalajara (6 players), Pachuca FC (5), Santos Laguna (3), and Club America (2).  The side is coached by Mario Arteaga, who played for various Mexican youth national teams and represented Mexico in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.  He played professionally for Chivas Guadalajara, as well as PUMAS UNAM and Leon FC.

“Our youth national teams have faced the Ventura Fusion in the past and they have given us great competition,” Arteaga said, “We know that the Ventura Fusion is a serious club that has accomplished important things.  We look forward to facing them in our tour and giving the fans in the city of Ventura an exciting match.”

Fusion has planned a number of exhibition matches in February and March 2017, all which are against MLS and international teams. The organization places a high-level of important on connecting with fans of Liga MX and the Mexican national team, and is looking forward to welcoming a large crowd at Ventura College.

“There are few soccer fans around the world as passionate as those from Mexico,” Shergill said, “ We should have a really special atmosphere on Satuday March 4th at Ventura College.”

Tickets are available at Soccer King, Agressive Soccer, Carniceria Colima, Soccer House, Green Thumb Nursery, Xtreme Soccer, and online at  Tickets cost $15 for adults and $10 for youths.  Tickets will be available at the door on the day of the match at the Ventura College Sportsplex, at a $5 increase for adults. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 PM with pre-event festivities beginning at 6PM.
