VC Fusion shocks Armenian League champions Alashkert FC

A beautiful strike from 30 yards out by Kirakosian gave Fusion the 1-0 win

Glendale, CA- Over the last decade, the Ventura County Fusion has taken on some of the top clubs and national teams from around the world in exhibition matches. Clubs like EPL Manchester City, Everton, and Swansea, Argentina’s Club Independiente, Mexico’s Puebla FC, Chivas Guadalajara and Xolos Tijuana among others. On top of that, Fusion has played exhibition matches against countless teams in Major League Soccer, just earlier this year facing Colorado Rapids and Toronto FC. In July 2014, Fusion earned arguably its most famous victory, beating one of Britain’s great clubs, Rangers FC (Glasgow Scotland), 3-1 in a friendly match at Ventura College. Hard to imagine a PDL team like Fusion can have or achieve a bigger upset than that of beating the “Scottish Blue Steel”.

Perhaps that historic victory has been topped.

On Monday, February 21st VC Fusion played host to Armenian Premier League current champion and UEFA Champions league participant Alashkert FC, who happens to be the base of Armenian National team. With a second half goal by long time VC Fusion player Gor Kirakosian, who happens to be of Armenian roots . The “Orange and Blue” defeated 1-0 Armenian champion Alashkert FC on Monday night at Glendale High school in front of a pro Alashkert crowd.

“It is just good to get the win and for me to score the goal that gave us that win is unbelievable”, said Kirakosian. “It is great for this group representing VC Fusion tonight, we played very well and at the end we learned a lot from the win and specially from playing the Armenian champions.”

For VC Fusion founder and General Manager Ranbir Shergill, coming in to the match against one of Europe’s top teams was another way to show VC Fusion potential and versatility. But at the end the result surprised even him.

“For us to even have the chance to compete against teams like the Armenian league and cup champion is fantastic, but to get a victory is really unbelievable. We are all delighted with the outcome tonight” Mr. Shergill said as his players celebrated on the field.

Next up for the 2009 USLPDL champion VC Fusion, a couple of exhibition matches at Ventura College Sportsplex.

First on Saturday March 4th, Fusion will play host to two time FIFA U17 world cup champions Mexico u17. El Tri is getting ready for the CONCACAF tournament deciding the four north american representatives that will participate in this year’s FIFAu17 world cup in India.
